I was able to attend the festival of Holi in Washington DC this Spring. Holi is a "Hindu spring festival celebrated in India and Nepal, also known as the "festival of colors" or the "festival of love". The festival signifies the victory of good over evil, the arrival of spring, end of winter, and for many a festive day to meet others, play and laugh, forget and forgive, and repair broken relationships."
I brought along my 35mm Contax N1 in a waterproof casing. The day was bright and specks of dye filled the air. I was nervous bringing my camera along, but I knew I had to document the event. I used Kodak Portra 400 and set my shutter to 1/500 since the day was fairly bright and sunny. I wasn't able to get as many clear images as I wanted because it was hard to maneuver the camera through the stiff plastic covering, but I was able to manage a few.
